Frequently Asked Questions

Most people only plan one wedding in their lifetime, so I understand you may not know where to start when it comes to designing and booking your wedding cake. I hope this sections helps to answer most of your queries, but if there is anything you still need guidance on, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Can we choose more than one flavour?

This is the questions I get asked the most and the answer is - of course you can. This is YOUR cake, so it's important you choose the flavours you both love. I have a lovely cake flavour menu to choose from, so why not pick a different flavour for each tier.

Can we try some samples?

Designing your cake should be one of the most fun (& tasty) parts of your wedding planning. I run tasting days regularly throughout the year, where you can try your choice of flavours.

How many people will our cake serve?

Your wedding cake is completely bespoke, so I will suggest cake sizes that are most appropriate for your guest numbers.

Which areas do you cover?

I create my wedding cakes in Midhurst, West Sussex, so I mainly deliver to the many incredible wedding venues we have in Sussex. However I also cover Surrey and Hampshire too.  You will often find me at Cowdray HouseThe Walled Garden at Cowdray, Bignor Park and Grittenham Barn, as I am the recommended wedding cake supplier at these venues.

Can we have a buttercream cake in the summer?

Buttercream cakes are becoming more and more popular... with good reason as they are delicious! I have some clever tricks up my sleeve to make buttercream cakes more stable in the heat, so I am able to offer them all year round.

What kind of cakes do you make?

I have been making cakes for many years so am very experienced with buttercream and fondant cakes. My heart lies with buttercream though!

Do you have any cake stands?

I have a cupcake tower and a lovely collection of cake stands which are available to hire for a small fee. They are the perfect way to showcase your bespoke cake as that extra height really gives it the wow factor. I also have accessories such as acrylic tiers and bud vases which really add the finishing touches to your cake table.

Will you deliver our cake?

Yes absolutely! I always insist on delivering my wedding cakes, so I can ensure they arrive at the venue in pristine condition.

I transport my cakes in a Cake Safe, which makes the process quicker and safer. Delivery charges apply.

We have no idea what kind of cake we want!

Don't worry at all - I am here to help. Lots of couples don't really know what they want from their wedding cake. I would suggest we have a Zoom call so I can get to know you as a couple and find out more about the vibe of your wedding. From here, I will create a vision board of ideas for you to look at. You can let me know what elements you love and I will then go on to create some design ideas for you. Its a fun process and you might decide on a cake that you didn't even know you could have. Why not get in touch so we can start the design process right away?

Do you offer cakes for smaller weddings?

I know some people prefer the idea of a more intimate wedding, but you still deserve to have an amazing cake. To add some 'wow factor' to a smaller cake, we can use a clear acrylic tier to give extra height & interest (my acrylic tiers are fillable so we can get creative with this element of your cake). Or for a more traditional feel, I could use a dummy tier. I promise you, no one will know its not real!

Do you offer 'free from' cakes?

I always do my best to cater for people with special dietary requirements, eg dairy free, nut free, vegan, but I am not a specialist 'free from' baker. Most couples choose to serve 'free from' cupcakes alongside their main wedding cake.

I can make cakes using gluten free ingredients, but as I work from a kitchen which handles gluten, I can't guarantee they will be 100% gluten free.

How do I secure the date with you?

Once we have decided upon a design for your cake, I will send you a booking agreement outlining all the details we have agreed. To secure your booking, I need the signed paperwork returned to me, along with a 50% deposit. The final balance isn't due until 4 weeks before your wedding.

Can you recommend any other suppliers?

I was a wedding & luxury event coordinator for many years, and in that time I built amazing relationships with other wedding suppliers, who I know will offer the very best products & services for your wedding. Whether you're after bespoke chocolates as wedding favours, whimsical wedding flowers, live music or anything else at all, I'm sure I will know someone incredible who can help.
